    Jaffna Fort built by the Portuguese in 1618 and expanded by the Dutch in 1658 and was taken over by the British and remained as garrison till 1948. Fort included Governor's residence (King's House), Queen’s house, Kruys Church, the Garrison parade ground, and several other buildings from the Portuguese era.
