    Kirinda temple and many archaeological ruins have situated around a 10 km radius of Tissamaharama. Kirinda is an ancient temple located atop a rocky outcrop adjoining the Kirinda beach. The surrounding view of an isolated long stretch of sandy beach and the ocean beyond is amazing at the top of the rock. Kirinda temple is dedicated to Queen Viharamahadevi who lived in the 2nd century BC, the mother of great Sri Lankan King Dutugemunu.
