    Saptha Kanya (Seven Maiden) mountain range is one of the most picturesque mountain range in Sri Lanka which consists of seven peaks. The Laxapana falls is in the background of this mountain range.

    It is said that the smaller size elephants (kuru elephants) are living in the peaks of this mountain range but it is hard to see them. If you are willing to see them you have to camp a few days at the peak. The mountain range is filled with lush green natural vegetation with steep slopes providing adventurers hiking opportunities through the thick green canopy.

    This mountain range became well-known around the world after the Martinair Flight 138 crashed between the 2nd and 3rd mountain peaks killing hundreds of passengers in 1974.
